Account of the beginnings of commercial aviation in Australia. The author became a commercial pilot in the early 1920s and piloted on all the original Australian airlines, as well being the original Flying Doctor pilot.
The story of the Avro-Fokker 'Southern Cloud' which disappeared over the Australian Snowy Mountains in 1931, on an Australian National Airways flight between Sydney and Melbourne. Despite a search at the time, the crash site was only found in 1958.
Qantas Rising / Qantas at War / Wings to the World
Trilogy history of Qantas by one of the company founders. 'Qantas Rising' (1965), covers the foundation to the first international service in 1934. This is followed by 'Qantas at War' (1968) and 'Wings to the World' (1970) taking the history to 1966.
