Account of pioneering commercial flying in the 1920s. Hagenbach was a Swiss immigrant to California who learnt to fly as a newspaper reporter and later became a Night Express Service pilot.

Recollections of the author who flew Catalina and Sunderland flying boats from Poole harbour and Dakota's over the 'Hump' during the war. Post-war he flew in South America for Lan Chile before joining BSAA and eventually retiring as a BA VC10 captain.
