Railway Accidents - Report on the Derailment which occurred on 23rd January 1955 at Sutton Coldfield in the London Midland Region, British Railways
Serious derailment and significant damage, leading to the 17 deaths, of a York to Bristol express due to excess speed on a restricted secondary line diversion route. The train was hauled by Black Five 45274 which although heavily damaged was repaired.
