The authors experiences in the RAF from 1936 to 1977. His wartime work included flying for research and development units, and Special Duties Squadron parachuting agents and supplies for SOE. Later appointments included CO of RAF Abingdon.

Grand Barrage
Popular wartime fiction supporting the war effort, first published in 1944. The author was John Austin, who produced a series of battle stories based on real experiences, under the pseudonym Gun Buster. Grand Barrage is based on the defence of Malta.
