McDONALD, J.D. (ed.)

The Pitcher and the Well

Wartime experiences purporting to be those of an unidentified New Zealand bomber navigator, who was shot down and died from his wounds as a POW. The author claimed the airman's manuscripts were received in 1944 as part of the deceased's effects. Despite the factual origins, the book does give a good account of life during the war and was probably based on a variety of sources.
